FAQ
Cost & Value
Coating your roof with Noxyde is generally 50–70% cheaper than reroofing. Plus, it avoids the disruption of stripping your roof and produces less waste. It’s a cost-effective way to extend the life of your roof without compromising on protection.
Every roof is different, but in almost every case, applying Noxyde is significantly cheaper than reroofing. We will provide a no obligation free quote.
While Noxyde is almost always far more affordable than reroofing, it isn’t the cheapest roof coating on the market, and that’s because it delivers benefits competitors can’t match:
-
Dual protection: Functions as both an anticorrosive primer and a waterproofing membrane, removing the need for multiple systems or rust converters.
-
Independently tested: Backed by 25+ years of performance data in New Zealand, plus ISO and ASTM certifications.
-
Premium formulation: Developed by Rust-Oleum, a global coatings leader, Noxyde is engineered to resist UV, salt spray, and cracking, unlike budget paints that chalk and peel.
-
Reduced long-term costs: Higher upfront, but fewer recoats, lower maintenance, and real lifetime savings.
Proven track record: Many cheaper coatings in New Zealand have only a few years of history, with no independent testing. Noxyde is the only system with decades of verified results in our climate.

Yes - the product itself does far more than standard paint. Standard paints may last 5–7 years at best. Noxyde is designed for 15–20 years, with dual anticorrosive and waterproofing performance. In the long run, it actually saves money by avoiding premature recoating or roof replacement.
FAQ
Performance & Protection
Noxyde has over 25 years of performance data in New Zealand and 50+ years globally. With proper application and maintenance, you can expect decades of reliable protection.
Standard roof paints are decorative, they look good but don’t stop leaks or rust. Noxyde is a proven membrane system that flexes with your roof, blocks corrosion, and waterproofs in one. It’s protection, not just paint.
Yes - Noxyde creates a seamless waterproofing membrane that seals gaps, overlaps, and fixings where water typically gets in.
Yes - Noxyde is both an anticorrosive primer and a waterproof membrane in one. It penetrates and seals porous surfaces while stopping rust from spreading on steel roofs.
Absolutely. Noxyde has over 25 years of real-world testing and performance data here in New Zealand, including coastal and industrial environments. It was designed to resist salt spray, UV, and humidity, the exact conditions that break down other coatings.
Yes - Noxyde has been independently tested to ISO and ASTM standards for corrosion resistance, adhesion, and weatherability. It has more independent testing behind it than almost any other roof coating in New Zealand.

FAQ
Suitability & Options
Noxyde can be applied to a variety of roof substrates including but not limited to: iron, steel, concrete, clay, bitumen, existing painted surfaces, asbestos, butynol, torch-on and more. Each roof type requires slightly different preparation, but the end result is the same: a long-lasting, protective membrane.
In some cases, severe structural damage or advanced corrosion means a roof can’t be restored with a coating system. If that’s the case, we’ll be upfront and let you know before any work begins. The good news is that many roofs that look worn or badly weathered can still be successfully protected with Noxyde, extending their life for decades and saving thousands compared to reroofing.
Noxyde is widely used as an asbestos encapsulation coating because of its strong adhesion, flexibility, and proven durability in New Zealand.
Yes - Noxyde is a water-based, low-VOC coating, meaning it’s safer to apply around homes and businesses. It contains no harmful solvents, making it far more environmentally friendly than many alternatives.

Process, Safety & Guarantees
Most residential jobs are completed within a few days, depending on roof size and condition. Commercial and industrial projects may take longer due to scale, but we plan works to minimise disruption to your site.
Yes - we stand behind our workmanship and the proven performance of Noxyde. All projects include a workmanship guarantee, backed by decades of global performance data.
We take great care to mask off windows, vehicles, and surrounding areas. Our team uses protective sheeting and drop cloths, and we ask that outdoor furniture and valuables are moved clear of the spray zone before work begins.
Yes - all of our applicators are WorkSafe NZ compliant, hold the correct working-at-heights training, and carry full liability insurance. Safety is a non-negotiable part of our process.
Not always. For most single-storey homes, our trained applicators use roofing harnesses, ladders, and safety equipment. Scaffolding is only required where legally necessary, such as when the fall risk is greater than 5 metres.
Unlike competitors using newer or unproven products, we specialise exclusively in Noxyde, the only membrane with 30+ years of NZ performance data. Our team is fully trained, insured, and committed to delivering premium results that protect your home for decades, not just years.
